HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Harlingen C.I.S.D. held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new aquatic center.
On Tuesday, July 2, members of the Harlingen C.I.S.D. board, administration and community celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for a new $7.88 million aquatic center.
The facility was approved back in May 2010 as part of a $98.6 million bond initiative which also includes projects for a AG farm, a performing arts center, a new Memorial Middle school campus and renovations to Boggus Stadium.
The aquatic center will be open in Spring 2014 on the east side of J. Lewis Boggus Stadium and will include a 10 lane 25 yard competition pool, a fitness pool and a diving well with seating for up to 450 spectators.
