INDIAN LAKE, TEXAS — "One lady got in a foot chase, chasing him. Another lady discovered him in her neighbor's shed hiding stolen bicycles."
With that help, Indian Lake Police put this alleged thief behind bars after he was linked to a series of heists. Police say the perp advertised the stolen property to locals on Craigslist, hoping to make a quick buck.
"Well obviously this individual has to have a way of selling the items he's stolen, and many times they sell it in pawn shops, but in this case he was selling it on Craigslist. We checked the Craigslist records and found many of the stolen items under his account where he was selling them."
Many of the Craigslist ads were for bikes that matched the description of the bikes the police confiscated when they searched five Indian Lake homes.
"The people who purchased the items off Craigslist were most likely unaware that they bought stolen property. That's why Indian Lake Police are asking these individuals to come forward with the items and possibly be reimbursed."
"We're asking them to please come forward, return the items. We will submit the paperwork to the district attorney's office and hopefully he'll provide some kind of restitution and have this young man pay them back for what they may be victimized as well."
