AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Round two of an intense fight over abortion got underway on Monday in Austin. Governor Perry called another special session so Texas lawmakers can vote on a measure stopped, in part, by a high profile filibuster, NBC's Janet Shamlian is in Austin with the story.
Wendy Davis appeared on Meet the Press Sunday, poised and ready for round two. Davis was thrust into the national spotlight last week following an epic 11 hour filibuster that helped prevent a vote that would effective close most clinics in Texas.
Davis spoke on, and on, and on filibuster rules forbidding her to break or even sit, but of protesters so loud the vote was stalled past deadline. Davis and her pink sneakers became an internet sensation.
The Republican majority throughout the state expects this law will eventually pass.
