BROWNSVILLE. TX (NEWS CENTER 23) — Extended Federal funding will allow the Brownsville airport control tower to continue normal operations.
It's blue skies and smooth air for the Brownsville South Padre airport, at least in the immediate future. The FAA's decision to extend full Federal funding to air traffic control for the next fiscal year means local tax money won't have to be directed to tower operations, which officials had feared might be necessary.
Plans to work on a new terminal could begin as early as the start of next year.
