HARLINGEN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Mr G's has been a family run business in Harlingen for the last 40 years.
This week they began selling fireworks for another Fourth of July.
Matthew Gonzalez who just graduated from San Benito high school is spending his last summer helping his grandfather before he heads off to college.
"As a grandson it's an honor to help him with his business."said Gonzalez.
Manager Rick Powelson picked up this seasonal job to help support his family. He says to enjoy the fireworks but also to be careful.
"First of all is safety, follow all the rules that it says, make sure there are no fires, and make sure no one gets hurts." said Powelson.
Despite the drought conditions, the Cameron County Emergency Management office says organized fireworks displays are set to go off as scheduled.
So far, Mr. G's says business has been slow, but they expect it to pick up as we get closer to the Fourth of July.
