MCALLEN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The family of a University of Texas-Pan American student is looking for your help.
A bicycle accident left Yuridia Cazares Fonseca, 23, in a coma for three weeks.
She now responds to family members by squeezing their hands. She was a straight-A student at La Joya High School and wanted to become a nurse.
"Well, (the doctors) don't know," Yuridia's mother Margarita Cazares said in Spanish about Yuridia's recovery. "They say time, with a lot of rehab and waiting, to see how she comes along."
The family does not have insurance. There are three donation locations around the campus: at the President's office, the University Advancement office, and the UTPA Alumni Center.
