BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The family of Brownsville middle school student, killed by police last year, have filed a law suit against the city and the police department.
Officers shot and killed Jaime Gonzalez Jr., 15, last January after he refused to drop a pistol during a confrontation with officers inside Cummings Middle School.
Officers later determined the pistol was a pellet gun, the city, and five officers are listed as defendants in the civil lawsuit that was filed in federal court.
The lawsuit seeks damages for Gonzalez's death, damages for the physical and emotional injury the family suffered.
