EDINBURG, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — New reports show the number of marriages in the U.S. is falling to an all time low rate.
But the stats also show there's a now a "pent up marriage demand" among 18-34 year olds.
The stats also show that people who have delayed getting married are now tying the knot while there's still time to have children.
According to the Hidalgo County Clerk's office, marriages have slightly increased in the county, as have divorces.
Local psychologists say there's several explanations for the U.S. economic recovery and that it is expected to boost marriage rates over the next several years.
But are marriages increasing here in the valley as a whole?
Newscenter 23's Michael Lopez will have a full report Thursday.
