Carnaval Triumph back in Texas port after first cruise since $115,000,000 in repair and renovation.
(KPRC) The Carnival Triumph docked at the Port of Galveston Monday morning.
For this cruise, no news was good news.
The ship made headlines when a mechanical failure left passengers stranded at sea in February. Passengers complained of unsanitary, hot and overall unpleasant conditions.
After that incident, Carnival officials decided to completely refurbish the ship before putting it back in the public eye.
On Thursday, the ship set sail again on a four-day cruise.
Passengers on the sold-out cruise were met with $115 million in upgrades, including safety and prevention systems, a second emergency generator, new carpet, beds and bedding.
"We spent that money to make sure, God forbid, anything like that should ever happen again, " said John Heald with Carnival Cruise Lines. "We have the ability, first of all, with the extra emergency generator to provide more hotel systems, air conditioning, hot food."
