RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Many job seekers like Dorance Cuba of Mission are leaving their jobs for new opportunities. Like most Cuba has left past job positions for bigger and better opportunities. Most
recently he was overseas serving in the military.
Cuba says, "One of the reasons we are seeking jobs, is of course for a good salary and d of course to continue in education."
Cuba is not alone, because long lines at the Mission Texas Workforce Solutions Office, could be a sign that job hunters are also becoming more selective when it comes to employment.
Victor De Leon of Workforce Solutions explains that as the economy is improving, job seekers want better paying salaries.
Meanwhile, The U.S. Labor Department reports the number of Americans who quit their jobs jumped more than seven percent from the first quarter to the second quarter of this year.
Still, some will take any employment they can get, because here in the valley unemployment figures continue to exceed the national rate.
