BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Eduardo Villarreal, 32, was arrested and charged for possession of marijuana for the second time along with two other suspects Monday.
An investigator working for the Cameron County Attorney's Office had been doing surveillance work on Villarreal when he witnessed him walking out of a Harlingen FedEx shipping center and detained him.
Villarreal and his two passengers, Jose Heriberto Calderon, 32, and Jesus Walter Beltri Ortiz, 24, were being questioned when Beltri-Ortiz fled on foot.
Police units nearby were able to apprehend Ortiz near Valley International Airport.
Villarreal had been arrested, back in April, for attempting to ship 154 pounds of marijuana at the same location.
Villarreal and Calderon were both arrested and charged for possession of the 20 pounds of marijuana.
Beltri-Ortiz was to appear at an arraignment hearing today, June 11, for a previous charge of possession of marijuana.
