BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection officers, working at the Brownsville port of entries, intercepted two loads of narcotics on two separate incidents.
In the first case, on Friday, June 7, CBP officers at Los Indios port of entry encountered a 1998 Chevy Suburban driven by a female, 20, who was referred to a secondary inspection.
Officers discovered 44 hidden packages within the gas tank of the SUV which weighed over 191 pounds of alleged marijuana with a street value of $191,000.
In the second case, on Saturday, June 8, Custom officers at the Gateway port of entry came into contact with a Mexican citizen driving a gray 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The driver was sent to a secondary inspection where CBP officers found 14 packages, with a total weight of 34 pounds, of alleged cocaine, with an estimated the street value of $1,088,000 dollars.
