AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Texas Governor Rick Perry had a helping "paw" passing a new law on Friday, June 7, at the Capitol.
A four legged friend signed the law with the Governor which gives people, with disabilities, the right to take service animals into all public places like restaurants and businesses.
The Governor says these animals are especially important for veterans recovering after serving their country, "For veterans suffering for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a service animal can be a very strong part of their recovery, a comforting presence."
The bill, which passed legislation, will be law in September of 2013.
