WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Congressman Ruben Hinojosa and U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtine, of Flordia, are sending a letter to the State Department in bringing back a missing Marine in Mexico.
Marine Corps veteran Armando Torres III, 25, was kidnapped in Mexico, along with his father and uncle, by armed gunmen on May 15th at his fathers ranch.
Congressman Hinojosa is asking the U.S. government to assist in getting the Marine back home and stated, "Just as former U.S. Marine Armando Torres pledged to protect our country and its citizens we must now step in and ensure that he is returned to U.S. soil safe and sound. Armando, along with his father, and his uncle, were kidnapped last month just across the U.S.-Mexico border and have not been seen or heard from since. Authorities believe members of the Mexican drug cartel kidnapped the men in an effort to seize their property for drug trafficking purposes."
"Armando served his country honorably and he deserves the U.S. government's full attention and involvement in this urgent matter. We must send a message to the kidnappers that the United States of America will do everything it can to save this patriotic Marine."
"I urge the State Department and the FBI to continue their combined efforts with Mexican authorities to resolve this matter and bring Armando, his father and uncle back safely to their loved ones."
