McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The McAllen School District this week trained more than 450 teachers for International Baccalaureate. IB is a more focused curriculum that aims to get kids more involved in the teaching process.
McAllen ISD hopes by 2015 to be the largest school district in the world to offer IB from K-12.
"McAllen School District, when they do things, they seem to do it right," said Ann Wink, a regional development specialist for the IB Organization. "They want to make sure their teachers are on board and best qualified as possible. So it's a huge undertaking for us, but we're very glad that... You all can keep moving forward here with your schools."
The two-day training sessions involves teachers in McAllen's elementary and middle schools.
