HIDALGO CITY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Mexican citizen was arrested by Custom and Border Protection agents after he attempted to smuggle methamphetamine.
On May 30, a Mexican taxicab, with a male passenger, approached the Hidalgo port of entry attempting to cross over to the United States.
The taxi and its occupants were sent to a secondary inspection where officers discovered the passenger had packages of alleged narcotics strapped to his body.
Officers seized four packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing nearly six pounds with an estimated value of $86,000.
The passenger was arrested and handed over to Homeland Security investigators for questioning.
