HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Police arrested a man accused of slamming a woman's head onto the pavement until she was knocked unconscious.
In the early hours of Thursday, May 30, an officer patrolling the 300 block of West Van Buren spotted a female lying on the side of the road, in a pool of blood, and a man identified as Jose Alfredo Palomino, 30, standing over her.
The officer called EMS and questioned Palomino about the incident and he replied that he had seen the woman on the ground and stopped to see if she needed any assistance.
Palomino's hands, arms, finger nails and clothes had evidence of blood, that did not appear to be his, since he had no signs of visible injuries.
A citizen informed the officer that Palomino had assaulted the victim, during an argument, and repeatedly slammed her head into the ground until she had been knocked unconscious.
Palomino was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and the victim was taken to a local hospital for her injuries.
