BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — If you're looking for a hot new Indi flick to go see in the coming months, you're in luck. With the help of an independent film company, local attorney and screenwriter Hector Salinas has just finished wrapping up filming downtown for his new film called "Endgame."
"The people in New York already know who they are, they know about Brownsville because of the chess program, because of their success. So I thought that entire idea, the topic was a great one, and so three or four days later I thought of writing the script."
Salinas has typically been known throughout The Valley has an attorney. When he's not busy in the law office, he can be found writing screenplays.
"Although some people believe there's a peculiar dichotomy between Hector Salinas working here as a lawyer, and Hector Salinas working as a screenwriter, he says that it was only a matter of time before writing became a huge part of his life."
"I had always been more creative than analytical. And there was an empty, uh, or I felt somewhat empty. Or, I had, there was this unsatisfying feeling within me. It was unsatisfying and any time I sat down and started being creative, it sort of filled that void, so I think that's how I started writing. I think I always had it in me to write, um, it just, it just took some time."
Although the film is based around children, Salinas says all audiences can appreciate the film and will receive a good message.
"If you put your mind to anything in this world, it is possible to achieve."
