Burglars take badges, uniforms and bullet-proof vests from tiny Nebraska town's police department.
(KHAS) It's big news for a small town. It's almost unbelievable.
Friend, Nebraska is home to less than 1,200 people.
"It's just like your basic small town USA," says Vickie Himmelberg.
It's a place where residents feel safe.
"The size of our police station represents the amount of crime that we don't have," says Thomas Clouse.
The former tool shed now houses the Friend Police Department, which some say may be the smallest police station in the world.
Just last week the one room building became a crime scene.
On Wednesday, May 15th three men broke through a window at the station.
They stole sensitive items from a locked cabinet; bullet proof vests, ammunition, night vision goggles and even police badges.
