BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection agents intercepted a woman attempting to cross a child into the country without valid documents.
On Saturday, May 18, a female Mexican citizen, 38 and residing in Brownsville, approached the Brownsville/Matamoros port of entry with a minor child to enter the United States.
The female represented a U.S. birth certificate for the child, but both were sent to a secondary inspection for review of the documents.
CBP officers were able to identify the child as a citizen of El Salvador with no legal documents to enter the country.
The female was taken into custody for alleged violations of immigration law and the child placed in the care of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
