No bond set for this 24-year old father Benicio Villarreal from Donna, who is facing charges for criminal negligence on a 3-year-old child.
Earlier this week authorities found three of his small kids wandering on a high traffic roadway in Donna without supervision.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño says, "What really kept us from filing immediate charges was that we were having trouble identifying him."
That's because Villareal gave a false name to authorities, but it didn't take long for the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department to catch up Villarreal.
Very apologetic in front a judge Friday, saying it was all an accident and that he was a sleep when it happened and thought the mother was looking out for the child.
The 24-year old is being held at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention center, authorities say they're not taking this lightly and holding him responsible for his actions.
Sheriff Treviño says, "parents, I really urge you to take care of your kids. you must have supervision of them at all times, we are talking about kids the ages of 2, 3, and 6 they can not take care of themselves."
Back in 2010 Villarreal was also arrested for illegally transporting aliens into the United States and was prosecuted in federal court.
