PROGRESO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection agents intercepted a woman who attempted to smuggle a child at the Progreso International Bridge.
On Friday, May 10, a Edinburg woman, 30, and a minor child applied for admission into the Untied States as pedestrians.
A primary inspection resulted in both being referred to a secondary inspection for review of their entry documents.
CBP officers reviewed the birth certificate of the child and determined the child was a citizen of Mexico with no legal documents to enter the country.
Officers detained the adult on alleged violations of immigration law and the child was placed into the care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
