HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested a woman for assaulting her own mother and then attacking her common-law husband.
Police were called out to the 2100 block of East Grimes on Thursday, May 2, in regards to an assault report.
The victim of the assault reported that her daughter, Cassandra Marie Tamez, 19, had come by to pickup her 2 year-old grandson, but the victim believed that Tamez was under the influence of drugs and refused Tamez to leave with her child.
Tamez became angry and attacked her mother by punching her and scratching her chest and arms. After the assault, Tamez walked upstairs to another apartment and confronted her common-law husband and attacked him with a pair of kitchen scissors and then leaving the scene.
Police were able to locate Tamez and arrested her, but she was able to slip one of the handcuffs off her wrist.
Officers were able to resecure Tamez, after she resisted for some time, and she was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault family violence and resisting arrest.
Tamez's bond total was $60,000 on all three charges and the victims were treated for their injuries.
