RIO GRANDE VALLEY (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — It can happen to the best of us. You see a friendly four legged pet, barking and seeking attention. You take a look and the next thing you know you have a new companion.
Janet Clemson of Mission says, "I've always loved dogs, but his one, he is just as good as he can be, he is a little Schnauzer."
For Clemerson it didn't take much convincing to adopt a new dog. "My husband died some years ago, I had dogs in the past and I just felt I needed something alive in the house."
Paws Adoption program is partnering with PetSmart and they bringing in dogs who need a warm home.
Beth Birdwell of Paws Adoption program out of Brownsville says, "We are trying to get the dogs adopted, so not so many are killed by the Humane Society and at pounds, they have already been fixed, they have already had their shots, and they have already been micro-chipped."
And for those aspiring to adopt a dog, the center will provide you with special medical records, so you are aware of their needs.
If you are looking to adopt a dog, it is as simple as contacting a local PetSmart store in the Rio Grande Valley.
