Boston police confirm that three additional arrests have been made in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. NBC News cites sources saying the three are college students who are suspected of taking items from the dorm room of alleged bomber Dzokhar Tsarnaev.
Two of the students arrested are originally from Kazakhstan and were already in custody on immigration charges, according to CNN. They have been charged with making false statements to law enforcement and with conspiracy to obstruct justice. The third person in custody is reportedly a U.S. citizen.
There is no indication the three taken into custody today had any involvement in the bombings, and police say there is no threat to public safety.
