BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Due to the continuing widespread drought conditions, that are expected in the next several months, Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) will be implementing a Stage 1 voluntary water restriction.
With Stage 1 water customers are being asked to voluntary conserve and to minimize any non-essential water use using the following recommendations:
- Irrigate landscaped areas twice per week from midnight to 7 a.m. or 7 p.m. through midnight, including pumping water from resacas.
- Water the landscaped areas with a hand held garden hose, soaker hose, hose end sprinkler, irrigation system, computer controlled system or drip system.
- Discontinue water use for non-essential purposes such as washing paved areas.
