BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A fatal accident, claiming the life of a man in his early twenties, shuts down part of Expressway 77/83 in Brownsville.
Police say a man in his early 20's, driving a Chevy Cobalt, somehow managed to drive southbound on the northbound lanes around 2 p.m.
Police say the man hit an 18-wheeler on it's left side and then striking a black Cadillac Escalade head-on.
The driver of the Escalade was taken to a local hospital and had sustained minor injuries.
Investigators are attempting to determine was caused the driver of the Cobalt to end up traveling south on the northbound lanes.
A mile stretch of the northbound lane was shut down for more than hour by authorities.
