MISSION, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — He was a famous Norteño singer known for his controversial songs of narco-corridos, Thursday morning a farm worker discovered the body of Mexican singer Chuy Quintanilla, who was found with two bullet wounds to his head. Friends that knew Quintanilla say he will be missed.
Abram Carrisalez was Quintanilla's friend and he says, "He was a great friend, we had a lot of good times together, here at Las Palmas race track we shared a lot of good moments."
Currently authorities say they don't have any suspects or motives as for his death, but they do plan a thorough investigation to find the person or people responsible.
As for Quintanilla he resided near the Mission area, neighbors, friends and fans say he was a humble man who always reached out to others.
Carrisalez says, "He left too soon, he left too soon, he will be missed."
Meanwhile, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's department says they will continue to investigate the area where he was found to search for any possible leads.
