BROWNSVILLE. TX (NEWS CENTER 23) — The Cameron County emergency 9-1-1 district sponsored the "Dedication For Fallen Heroes Memorial" at the Cameron County Courthouse.
Family and friends came to honor those first responders who've died in the line of duty.
Members of the Brownsville Police and Fire Department and Cameron County Sheriff's Department were among those in attendance.
We caught up with a widow of one of the victims who has honoring her late husband, Lieutenant Antonio "tony" Lopez of the sheriff's department.
"he was one in a million and all that were fortunate to have encountered him and there doesn't-there's not a day to have gone by that i don't encounter somebody that tells me 'i remember your husband and those are awfully good memories."
Lopez says she's grateful for presentations like this that pay homage to fallen first responders.
