HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant on a home on Sunday and seized several bundles of marijuana.
Deputies executed the search around 4 p.m. at a home located in the area of 7 Mile Line and Stewart Road.
During the search of the home officers found 150 bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 1,830 lbs. and a sawed-off shotgun.
Two men, at the home were arrested, Jose Barrera, 43, and Joe Lee Villanueva, 33, and investigators have confirmed that Villanueva is a Texas Chicano gang member.
Detectives are attempting to link the marijuana to the Chicano gang and a possible Mexican drug trafficking organization.
