(CNN) — Working at Starbucks and Walmart can get you ahead in college. A growing number of Fortune 500 companies have started offering their own classes to sharpen workers' skills.
In Seattle, Starbucks workers take courses called Barista Basics and Barista 101. They can earn one-and-a-half credits for each of the classes for college and three credits a piece for higher-level management courses.
Walmart's classes teach its associates about time management, effective phone skills, and managing diversity. It is up to each college and university whether to accept the credits.
