RIO GRANDE VALLEY (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Mexican nationals are bringing a big boost to the Rio Grande Valley's economy spending big bucks last year.
According to a report released by the Strategic Alliance for Business and Economic Research Institution, Mexican nationals spent more than $600 million dollars in Hidalgo County and close to $230 million dollars in Cameron County.
“If it were not for the investments of Mexican nationals contributing to the Valley the Island wouldn't be where it is today quite frankly the Island and downtown area of Brownsville and up and down the border wouldn't be where they are today." said Judge Carlos Cascos.
