HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The IRS is catching up on processing tax returns in this delayed tax-filing season and IRS officials are asking those who have filed to be patient.
the IRS says it has already processed more than 77 million tax returns, versus 82-million from the same period last year.
the IRS says the delay has a simple explanation: they say Congress, which didn't agree on a number of tax rules until the very last minute needed more time to update computers and forms.
