Rancho Viejo is still dealing with an abundance of cats, but they have found another solution in solving the problem.
For months the Town of Rancho Viejo has seen an increase in feral or stray cats. Mayor Craig Flood says he wants to do something about it and fast. The Cat Control Committee have done their research and says it's time to come up with a plan. The Board of Alderman discussed a new cat ordinance which would regulate the number of cats homeowners can own.
They discussed spay and neutering the cats and under the new ordinance they would ask residents to keep their cats indoors. Most of all, they want to handle it in a humane way. After the ordinance is drafted, it will go before a strategic planning committee.
The Mayor hopes to have this cat problem resolved no later than April.
