BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A Brownsville man has been arrested for possession of marijuana by officers after receiving an anonymous tip.
Narcotic agents were informed about a grey Grand Prix, located on the 2100 block of Barnard, loaded with a large amount of marijuana.
Surveillance was set up at the location and agents observed a couple leaving the residence in a gold Dodge truck.
Officers made a traffic violation stop at Frontage Road and East 12th Street and asked for identification from both subjects which came back showing that the male subject, Sergio Martin Gomez, 29, had a pending traffic warrant and the female was his wife.
Gomez was arrested and police were given consent to search the vehicle and the home on Barnard which resulted in the seizure of 114 pounds of marijuana with a street value of nearly $29,000.
Gomez assumed all responsibility for the possession of the drugs and his bond was set at $40,000.
