BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — "I need to find a new job, for now of course I feel sad, but I can't do anything about it." said Carlos Boss.
Boss, a UTB graduate was employed for 4 years in the online learning department at UTB. He was one of 257 given a pink slip Tuesday.
The university says the employees were notified Tuesday. They will take two days off and return back to work on Thursday where they will remain employed at the university until August 31st.
Boss says he needs to find another job soon.
"My son is a year and 2 months I need another job to support my wife, she is at home, a house wife right now." said Boss
Students on campus say they really feel for those employees who were let go Tuesday.
Christopher Karafa is one of those students.
"It's so bad people are losing their jobs, I just lost my job recently so I know what it feels like." said Karafa.
Alex Manrique is a TSC student.
"If I were one of those people I would be very angry." Said Manrique.
The university says they have an employee development center that is providing assistance in finding the laid off employees new jobs.
