A gunman in New York went on a shooting spree that left four people dead.
March 15, 2013 — Around eight on Thursday morning in Herkimer, New York a swat team with dogs moved in on an abandoned building.
64-year-old Kurt Myers barricaded himself there since sometime on Wednesday.
"The gunman began to shoot at the tactical team...struck one of the canines and fire was returned and exchanged with the gunman," said NY State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico.
Myers missed the officers but killed the dog.
He was then shot and killed when police returned fire.
"He first engaged..firing shots at the door.. at the officers and ultimately exchanged shots with the officers," said D'Amico.
Myers is suspected of murdering four people and injuring two others in the spree.
