SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Spring Breakers on South Padre Island are enjoying the sun and all the fun activities.
Officials on South Padre Island say they are expecting around 20,000 people in and out of the beach Wednesday.
To try to make sure Spring Breakers are staying out of jail and safe on the roadways an organization called Beach Reach has 70 vans giving free rides to students.
Beach Reach is an organization involved in Baptist student ministry.
"Obviously a lot students are drinking alcohol here and don't want them to be behind the wheel so we are out here giving them free rides." said David Griffin of Beach Reach.
Tx-Dot officials are also handing out water bottles and encouraging the students to take the Beach Reach vans or a taxi.
