RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A member of the National Border Patrol Council says more illegal immigrants are turning themselves in rather than running if they are spotted trying to cross into the US.
The reason is they've heard Immigration and Customs Enforcement is releasing illegal immigrants from detention centers due to the sequester.
The president of RGV Local Border Patrol Council Paul Perez says agents are seeing more attempted illegal crossings and less resistance from those who are arrested.
