30 juniors from the Brownsville Independent School District will take part in the Youth Ambassador program. It's a collaboration between the Brownsville Independent School District and the City of Brownsville.
"It will allow a group of students some opportunities that have never existed before to learn about city government and city operations, it will only impact when they are out on program, but maybe when they get back to school it will help them in their studies and academics." said BISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Montoya
This is a two year program for students that need some extra academic motivation.
Evelyn Cantu is the Community Program Sponsor for the City of Brownsville and BISD Municipal Youth Ambassador program.
"It will be on the weekends and summer depending on the department and the students schedule. We are very open to our students to allow them to go into the city entities and learn about the city programs and city departments." said Cantu.
The program gets underway March 26th.
