EDINBURG, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The EWBC is proud to celebrate a remarkable accomplishment. This March will mark the 10th year it has been giving the Rio Grande Valley a place to explore and learn. Since opening its doors in March of 2003 the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center has provided public education, community service, and a place for families to visit and enjoy nature. Their grounds are full of native vegetation, ponds, and wildlife visitors are able to see and feel.
For their 10th Anniversary Celebration the EWBC will be filled with lots of activities for families to come and take part in. They will kick off the event at 10 a.m. with a presentation on Bugs in the Garden given by Sylvia Casselman. Learn about the bugs you want and those you don’t. You can even bring a bug from your garden to identify it! They will also have a live animal presentation for families to learn about and get an up close and personal taste of our local wildlife critters. A talk on butterflies of the Valley will also be given by a local expert that is sure to peak your interest. Guided walks will also be given throughout the event and topics include birds, plants, and butterflies. Other activities to take part in are face painting, dipnetting for aquatic insects, a photo booth for lasting memories, and a puppet show corner for the children to play at.
EWBC 10th Anniversary Celebration will be on Saturday, March 16th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food and beverages will be for sale on site. This great family event is FREE!
