After nearly four months on the run, police finally caught 30-year old, Ray Vincent Vallejo. He was arrested Friday night and is now charged with murder.
The 30-year-old suspect is the second man to be charged for the murder of 26-year-old Donna Lee Bocanegra and the attempted murder of her mother, 65-year-old Manuela Bocanegra. Vallejo was on the run since June and was considered armed and dangerous. Hidalgo County Sheriff's Deputies arrested the suspect at a hotel in Alamo Friday night around 10:30. The county's gang unit assisted Weslaco Police Investigators in the arrest.
Police believe Vallejo is one of the two armed men who broke into Bocanegra's home located on the 1800 block of West 6th street in Weslaco June 21st opened fire and then robbed the place. The 26-year-old died at the scene. Her mother was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Investigators arrested 19-year old, Lionzo Cantu, in late July and charged him with murder and attempted murder. Both Vallejo and Cantu are believed to be well-known gang members.
Vallejo was charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder. His bond was set at $4 million.
