SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Spring Break 2013, that was the hot topic at the South Padre Island's City Hall meeting for this year's activities, which will span three weeks, of concerts and other types of entertainment for the masses. Coca Cola Beach will be the main spot from March 6th through March 22nd and island officials say they are beefing up security as they expect a large number of visitors this year.
South Padre Island Police Chief Randy Smith stated, "By all aspects we're just hearing it's gonna be a real good Spring Break and we're hearing that a lot of folks are coming here. I know a lot of people are nervous about leaving the country and I think that might increase our numbers." New additions to this year's Spring Break include an ambulance bus which can transport up to 22 patients and a couple of watch towers to oversee the crowds.
