RANCHO VIEJO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — If you drive on Highway 77 near Rancho Viejo you may have noticed a string of empty trains cars on the railroad tracks.
We wanted to find out why they are "just" sitting there and we got some answers.
A Union Pacific Spokesperson tell us the yard in Brownsville that usually stores the cars is full, so they are temporarily storing them on the train tracks. Union Pacific says starting Friday they are going to transfer the cars to other train yards, including the one in Harlingen for storage.
Union Pacific expects all the rail cars will be off the tracks within the next few months.
