AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Should you have to give up your social media passwords to your boss? Senator Juan Hinojosa says no and he's pushing a bill for legislation to enforce it. The new bill would make it illegal for a current or future employer from requiring you to give them you username and password to your social media profile.
Senator Hinojosa's bill states that, "as long as you don't use your personal electronic communication device during work hours.", but companies can require you to follow their guidelines if you're using your company's cell phone or computer to check your social media profiles.
