A jury will soon be selected to hear the case of a Harlingen police captain who claims sexual harassment held her back at the police department.
Harlingen police officer Alicia Garcia is suing police captain Ramon Vela and the Harlingen Police Department claiming that Vela made an unwanted advance at her in a parked police unit. The lawsuit dates back to August of 2006 and Garcia claims that Vela retaliated against her by denying her attempt to become a detective.
The case will go before U.S. Federal Judge Andrew Hanan and jury selection began on Thursday and the trial is set to begin October 20th.
