Bomb squad called on suspicious canisters found in trash can

RIO GRANDE CITY (NEWS CENTER 23) — Police are searching for the person who planted twelve canisters which were found in trash cans on Santa Elena street near a high school on Wednesday evening. The McAllen bomb squad was called to the scene and several residents were evacuated from their homes. The bomb squad determined the canisters were  and harmless and police believe an aggravated robbery, happening a few hours later, could be related to this incident.
