Officials in Edcouch are hoping to receive help from the government to improve the water and sewage system in their city.
Edcouch submitted an application for a $25 million dollar grant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the money could help solve those who live in the city. A local consultant say the stat took over the water plant several years ago when the city did not meet rules and regulations, but after the state had control of the plant, most, if not all utility bills skyrocketed.
The $25 million dollars would go towards building a new water and sewage plant.
