Local leaders are learning lessons from Hurricane Dolly and Ike with Emergency Management Coordinators from the Valley holding a public meeting on Thursday.
Coordinators from Cameron and Hidalgo counties along with local officials gathered in Harlinegen to discuss recovery efforts and responses to recent and future disasters.
It's part of the newly appointed Governor's Commission for Disaster Recovery and Renewal. The meeting identified changes to the law and procedures that could help first responders do their job better next time another disaster strikes the Valley.
