MISSION - Students at Kenneth White Junior High aren't surprised to see their history teacher, Matthew Adams, dressed up in costume.
It's a way of teaching Adams embraces on a regular basis.
"I do this to inspire my students and to pass my passion onto them of history," said Matthew Adams, Seventh Grade Teacher.
Dressing up as different characters in history Adams engages his classroom with the lesson of the day. History is Adam's life.
"Again, my passion for history doesn't begin with, nor does it end with me. It is very important to my family, I am the family historian, and also my hobby is history oriented," said Adams.
And that's true, Adams is also a history re-enactor.
"I am also part of the cannon crew in Palo Alto in Brownsville," said Adams.
This passion for history started at a young age with influences his grandfather. Then it continued into grade school.
"I also had very good history teachers, I can even tell you their names. I had Mrs. Gordon from fourth grade, and Mr. Dovealine in 7th grade," said Adams.
It's a tradition Adams seems destined to continue. One look into any student's eyes in his classroom and anyone would know, Adams will definitely join that list of talented educators.
